Oxyfloat at the Biodesign Challenge – June 11–12
This past June 11–12, our team had the incredible honor of participating in the Biodesign Challenge (BDC) Summit, a global competition and educational program that brings together high school and college students from around the world to imagine the future of biotechnology. It was an exhilarating experience that marked a major milestone in our mission to restore oxygen to aquatic ecosystems.
Over the two days, we showcased Oxyfloat, to a distinguished panel of judges, industry leaders, and fellow innovators. The summit was more than just a competition; it was an inspiring immersion into a community dedicated to solving the world's most pressing environmental issues through biological design. We were deeply encouraged by the positive reception of our project and the insightful questions that challenged us to think even bigger about our scalability and impact.
One of the most valuable takeaways from the BDC Summit was the opportunity to build lasting relationships. We connected with mentors, biotech pioneers, and students from diverse backgrounds, all sharing a common passion for sustainable innovation. These conversations have opened new doors for collaboration and have provided us with fresh perspectives that will undoubtedly shape the next phase of our engineering operations and community outreach.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the BDC organizers for creating such a supportive and vibrant platform. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the judges for their expert feedback, to our fellow participants for their inspiring work, and to the visitors who stopped by our presentation with curiosity and encouragement. This experience has left us feeling optimistic and more determined than ever. We look forward to continuing this momentum, refining our prototypes, and working towards a future where clean, oxygen-rich waters are a reality for everyone.
